Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison has unveiled a number of perks for aspiring solicitors in its inaugural internship programme, including half of their pay upfront and money for work attire.
Paul Weiss has launched its bi-annual two-week work experience scheme, which will be based in its Soho office commencing next year. A total of 10 spots are up for grabs on each scheme, and A-Level grades are not part of the eligibility criteria.
The firm has detailed an extensive support package offered to every applicant who secures a place on the scheme.
Vacation scheme attendees will receive a £1,500 salary. The salary is a market-leading sum, with half of the amount paid to attendees upfront – allowing a sizable financial cushion for those who may require it.
Attendees will also receive a £250 professional attire grant to enable those who do not have an existing corporate wardrobe to feel kitted out before the scheme starts.
Other benefits and support include accommodation and travel for the duration of the scheme paid for by the firm, and free breakfast and lunch from Monday to Thursday,
The support is not means-tested, meaning every applicant is offered the same support regardless of financial background.
Plans for its UK-based training contract were announced earlier in July this year with 2026 being the first time Paul Weiss will have trainee solicitors in the UK.
The firm has joined the top of the market with its compensation package for newly-qualified (NQ) solicitors – NQs will receive a base salary of £180,000 in line with Gibson Dunn & Crutcher and Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan.
Pay for trainees is £55,000 for first-years and £60,000 for those in their second year.
