The Lawyer is to launch a groundbreaking reporting project on the activities of the most powerful law firms in the world.
The Lawyer Global Elite (TLGE) is a new, unashamedly high-end, analysis of the world’s most important legal markets, London and New York. Over the coming months, The Lawyer will articulate and define this market with reference to key data and metrics such as financial strength, practice group bench strength, recruitment, deals and clients.
Designed for those leading and working in firms with a strong transatlantic presence, it will focus on the strategies and execution of those firms that are shaping the top of the global legal market.
Led by some of The Lawyer’s most senior and experienced journalists – Matt Byrne, Nikhil Raj Aggarwal, Rachel Moloney and Catrin Griffiths – The Lawyer Global Elite will include a regular newsletter for subscribers, an annual report and ranking, interviews with key individuals, and will also offer interactive events for senior leadership.
The Lawyer Global Elite’s reporting will also underpin a new Transatlantic Firm of the Year category at The Lawyer Awards in June 2025, aimed at acknowledging the firm that has made the most progress at the elite end of the global legal market.
‘We believe there are a number of elements of the elite firms’ New York and London practices that increasingly resemble a single market, with an emerging roster of high-quality firms and lawyers representing clients in both cities on similar matters,’ said director of insight Matt Byrne.
‘The Lawyer Global Elite will define and articulate the most important trend facing the top firms on both sides of the Atlantic – and tracking the firms that will genuinely be leading the market.’
